National Wine Centre of Australia
South Australian wine without the drive
The National Wine Centre of Australia sits at the edge of the Botanic Gardens, built to look like a section of a wine barrel and holding exactly the kind of interactive exhibition you'd hope for from a building with that much personality. The self-guided Wine Discovery Journey walks you through the winemaking process from vine to glass, and entry to both the building and the exhibition is free.
When you're ready to taste rather than just learn, the Wined Bar offers self-pour tastings on a prepaid card, letting you sample your way through Australian regions at your own pace. It's an easy pairing with a walk through the Gardens, and a genuinely different way to spend a couple of hours compared to Adelaide's other North Terrace attractions.
