Adelaide Arcade has been trading since 1885, making it one of the oldest surviving shopping arcades in the country and a genuine piece of living history tucked just off Rundle Mall. Its ornate ironwork and period detailing have been carefully preserved, so a walk through feels less like a shortcut between streets and more like stepping back in time.

Beyond the architecture, there's a heritage museum on the upper level, free to visit during trading hours, along with a mix of independent retailers that have made the Arcade their home. Whether you're passing straight through on your way to Grenfell Street or stopping to browse, it's a worthwhile detour rather than a destination in its own right.
